Festival of Hope 2021: Rumorvoices

The project SlamContemPoetry, i cannibali della parola will be part of Festival of Hope 2021 by Versopolis with Pierre Kornev (Norway), Hélène Matte (Canada) and Dimitri Ruggeri (Italy); they will perform the topic “Rumorvoices”.

Slamcontempoetry can rightly be considered the first and exclusive web space in Italy to deal with the spoken word poetry in an organic and well-rounded way, in particularly thanks to the interviews of slammer, performer and artists who practice spoken word poetry, spoken word and spoken music. On 2019 from this project has been developed the Hombres Videopoetry Award, the unique italian international festival focused on the concept of “Borghi”.

About Festival of Hope we can say that the 1st edition took place in April 2020 and included contributions from over 90 partners from around the globe – that is why we decided to do it again! In its second edition, the online festival will pay special attention to the regions of Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, the Balkans and Turkey. Regardless of country, political system or religion: Humanity is facing a global revaluation of our ability to tell the truth, to speak up and to be heard. Art and literature play a crucial role in our endeavour to lend a voice to the oppressed, the weak and the excluded. With Festival of Hope 2 we want to address the global community to share inspiring artistic ways of speaking up and telling the truth, regardless of obstacles.

The opening event of #foh2 will be a round table about the Belarusian political and social situation hosted by the Slovene reporter Boštjan Videmšek. The guests are: Belarusian poetess Valzhyna Mort, Belarusian activist and professor Olga Shparaga and poetess Julia Cimafiejeva. There will also be an interpreter present, Mascha Dabić. The festival will take place online and simultaneously with numerous international partners and contributors, coming together at the Versopolis Review website.

The main programme will go online in a day-by day curated program from January 21st to February 28th. The language of the Festival is english. Versopolis is a European poetry platform that creates new opportunities for emerging European poets and is supported by the European Commission’s Creative Europe program. Versopolis Review is a platform that publishes self-reflexive opinions of a range of authors on urgent social, political, ecological and cultural questions regarding Europe.
